Peter is the Chief Executive Officer at Mount Gibson Iron Limited having commenced with the company in 2012, originally as Chief Financial Officer. Having been part of Diabetes Research WA’s Board from 1997 to 2000 and impressed by the work of the organisation over a long period, Peter re-joined the Board in October 2015. He was appointed Chairman in May 2017 and is passionate about research into all forms of diabetes and the prevention of associated complications.
Joey is a consultant endocrinologist and Director of Diabetes Services at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Western Australia. Joey completed his undergraduate medical training at The University of Western Australia, physician training at various hospitals in Western Australia and completed specialist training in endocrinology and diabetes in 2001. Joey undertook a PhD in neuroendocrinology at the University of Bristol, UK from 2000 – 2003. Joey also combines the role of Chairman of the DRWA Medical Advisory Panel overseeing the annual DRWA Research Program.

Emily is a lawyer at legal firm Herbert Smith Freehills and is currently the Senior Associate of Disputes based in Perth. Having lived with type 1 diabetes for over two decades, she is personally aware of the immediate need to keep supporting and promoting important research into all forms of diabetes.

Caitlin commenced working for DRWA in June 2023. Dr Fox-Harding holds a PhD from The University of Sydney in Exercise and Sports Science (2019) and has since been an academic/researcher at Edith Cowan University in Exercise Medicine and Sport/Exercise Psychology. Outside of academia, Caitlin has been involved in various governance, administration and high-performance management capacities for the Olympic sport of fencing in Australia as well as the international governing body, the Fédération Internationale d’Escrime (FIE).

Lana is a chartered accountant, experienced director and currently the General Manager and National head of Quality Management for Moore Australia. Lana relocated to Perth from South Africa in 2020 and joined the DRWA Committee. Lana is passionate about progressing research to prevent, cure and ensure healthy living with all forms of diabetes.

Doriena is a senior Marketing and Communications professional. She is currently National Head of Strategic Communications at Moore Australia and Moore Markhams and a mentor in the Australian Marketing Institute’s Emerging Marketers program. Doriena has lived and worked in Europe, the Middle East and moved to Australia in 2020. She joined DRWA in 2023 to support our ambition to find a cure for Diabetes and has close relatives who were diagnosed with Diabetes.

Liz is the Head of the Diabetes Clinical Services at Perth Children’s Hospital in Western Australia and co-lead of the Diabetes and Obesity Research team at Telethon Kids, a busy research team which has one stream of research focusing on exercise. She is a paediatric endocrinologist with a long-term interest in clinical and translational research in type 1 diabetes in children and adolescents. Her research interest is in ways to improve the lives of children living with diabetes.

Josie has a Bachelor of Engineering from RMIT University and is a business manager at Woodside Energy where she has been employed for 20 years. Josie has a daughter living with type 1 diabetes and understands the daily struggle to ensure a healthy life. Josie believes research is the key to uncovering improved treatment and management systems for diabetes in all its forms and the potential to find a cure.

Noah is currently working as a Senior Accountant after graduating from the University of Western Australia. Noah was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 15 alongside his brother who was diagnosed 3 years earlier. After studying medical research alongside his commerce degree, Noah has developed a passion to be involved in the development of ongoing treatment options for those living with diabetes. He joined the DRWA board in 2024 and hopes to make a lasting impact on the WA diabetic community.

Brad retired from his executive role of CEO Northwest Shelf & Vice President Australia Business at Woodside Energy in 2018 after a 30-year career at the Company. He now dedicates his time volunteering to two WA organisations in the NFP sector, adding his skills and expertise where necessary. Brad also assists a small growing organisation as a corporate advisor and executive coach and mentors many young professionals. Brad is also past President of Southern Capes Motocross Club based near Dunsborough where he spends a significant amount of time with his family pursuing his passions of surfing, kitesurfing and racing motocross. He was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 36 and believes in the world class capability of WA diabetes research.
